It’s that time again! The holidays are approaching and the 18th annual League of Women Voters Chaffee County holiday plant sale will soon begin. The League’s poinsettias and Christmas cactus make the perfect gift for a friend or loved one or as decor for a home or business. All plants come with a festive red foil pot cover. This year’s sale runs from Monday, November 11th through Monday, November 25th. All plants are pre-ordered. Visit lwvchaffeecounty.org for more information and to order and donate online. A mail order form also can be printed from the website and must be postmarked by November 20th.Send order forms and checks payable to LWVCC to LWV Chaffee County, 29805 US Highway 24, PMB 145, Buena Vista, CO 81211. Pick up of the pre-ordered plants is scheduled for Saturday, December 7th from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in either Buena Vista (Congregational United Church of Christ, 217 Crossman Avenue) or Salida (First Methodist Church, 228 E. 4th Street). Small poinsettias in 6” pots are $18 and are available in red, white and cinnamon ( a new color this year). Large red poinsettias in 8” pots are $32, Red or white Christmas cactus in 6” pots are $25. Delivery is available for orders of $100 or more. “Donations in lieu of plant purchases are always welcome,” plant sale coordinator Ellen Olson said and explained that the sale proceeds help to fund the LWVCC programs and events that inform Chaffee County voters and empower democracy. "The holiday and spring plant sales are our only fundraisers and we are very appreciative of the support we receive from the community at both,” she added.
