About
More than meets the eye.
Since 2017, the Little Engine food trailer has provided high-quality food, such as humanely-raised meats and vegan options, to area residents and tourists. As a 501(c)(3) social enterprise of Achieve, Inc., the Little Engine provides paid work experience and job training for neurodivergent people in Chaffee County and surrounding communities, fostering the development of marketable job and life skills. Neurodivergent refers to autism spectrum, ADD/ADHD and similar learning disabilities.

Additional Info
The Little Engine provides opportunities for an average of 16 neurodivergent community members each year who work under the tutelage of qualified mentors. Program participants are given access to meaningful work experience and job training enabling them to secure and maintain long-term employment becoming contributing community members less reliant on government services. Program participants not only receive pay, but they are transformed into a qualified workforce so badly needed by the community. At the same time, Achieve is increasing community awareness of the abilities of the community’s neurodivergent population, promoting acceptance and tolerance.
